Texas Narcotics Association Recognizes Three Webb County Sheriff’s Office Employees

 Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Wednesday, July 14, 2010,  three Officers from the Webb County Sheriff’s Office  received  extraordinary recognition at the 40th annual Texas Narcotics Officer Association Convention in Austin, Texas. 

 The officers recognized were privileged to join several others during this significant event. The four awards received were “Narcotic Officer of the year” awarded to Roberto Liendo, a 22 year veteran of the Webb County Sheriff’s office.  “Narcotic K-9 Officer of the Year”, Armando Romo, “Supervisor of the Year” awarded to Captain Ted Garcia, a fourteen year veteran of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office. The criteria used for these awards was mainly statistical number of arrest, seizures and division productivity.

 The regional recognition award for the best “Narcotic Group Division” in the southern district was awarded to Captain Ted Garcia from the Webb County Sheriff’s Office.  Captain Garcia’s Division was responsible for the seizure of 19 million dollars worth of narcotics, over 2.5 million dollars in U.S. Currency and 316 arrests.

 “This recognition is most appropriate in view of these officers commitment to the safety of this county. I am extremely proud of the work of Captain Ted Garcia, Roberto Liendo and Armando Romo, and the team effort of all of our fine men and women of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office.  I extend my congratulations and thank them for their excellent work  and accomplishments”. Sheriff Martin Cuellar stated.
