Broncos snap five game losing streak with victory over the Wings in game three of series

LAREDO, TX- The Broncos jumped all over White Wings starter Jose Nieto, knocking him out of the game after only four innings and taking a 7-2 victory on the back of Matt Gibbs who allowed just two runs in 7.2 innings pitched.
After an hour and nine-minute unplayable field delay the Broncos and White Wings were under way at Veterans Field. RHP Matt Gibbs (), making his fourth start of the season faced off against one of the newest members of the White Wings, RHP Jose Nieto ().
Gibbs retired the Wings in order in the top of the first and the Broncos stranded to base runners on the base paths after Nieto walked a batter and hit a batter. But the score was 0-0 heading to the second frame.
In the top of the second Welington Dotel reached on an infield single that went off Matt Gibbs glove and deflected towards the shortstop position. Scored an infield single the White Wings had a base runner. Dotel stole second base and came home on the Luany Sanchez RBI single to give the White Wings the 1-0 lead.
Carlos Arroyo tied the game in the bottom of the second with a solo home run, his second of the year. 1-1 was the score heading to the third.
The Broncos added to their lead in the bottom of the third with Mike Murphy reaching base on an infield single. D. J Dixon knocked in Murphy with an RBI double to give the Broncos the 2-1 lead. A wild pitch moved Dixon to third base and Jonathan Cisneros brought him home on a sacrifice fly and the lead was 3-1 Broncos.
Gibbs retired the White Wings in order in the top of the fourth to get the Broncos back into the dugout where they added to their lead. Arroyo led off with a double and and moved to third on the Doug Thennis single. Diaz reached on an infield single that brought Arroyo home to score and the Broncos led 4-1. Jose Nieto then threw a wild pitch to bring home Thennis from third base and the Broncos had a 5-1 lead over the White Wings.
The White Wings tacked on a run in the top of the fifth when Arlon Quiroz singled and then proceeded to steal his way to third base. With two outs against Gibbs Roberto Rodriguez singled to bring home Quiroz and make the score 5-2 Broncos.
In the bottom of the sixth with RHP Matt Morris (0-0) on the mound after a Ryan Flynn single, Mike Murphy crushed one over the left field wall to give the Broncos a 7-2 lead.
Gibbs threw 7.2 innings for Laredo, allowing four hits, two runs (both earned), he walked two and struck out five, picking up his fourth win of the year.
RHP Wade Townsend (0-0) came on for the Broncos in the ninth and pitched a scoreless inning to secure the 7-2 Broncos victory in game three of the series.
