Sheriff’s Deputies Discover Marijuana Cultivation Inside Residence Along with $7,696.00 in US currency

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – A narcotic investigation by The Webb County Sheriff’s Office leads to the seizure of narcotics and US currency. On June 9, 2010, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of The narcotics unit of The Webb County Sheriff’s Office executed a state narcotic search warrant at a residence located at the 3500 block of Culiacan in Laredo, Texas. Execution of the warrant led to the seizure of 575 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $290,950.00. Also found at the residence were digital weight scales and rolls of cellophane, items used to facilitate the wrapping and distribution of narcotics. Officers also discovered $7,696.00 in US currency at the residence.
Investigators discovered that a room inside the home was being used to cultivate marijuana. In the room, investigators located 29 plants of marijuana in assorted sizes. The room was equipped with a ventilation system and special lighting equipment to aid in the growth of the plants. Allan Eduardo Salinas, 23, and Jorge Ivan Campos, 23, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana F/2 and evading arrest C/A. Both subjects were transported to the Webb County Jail in lieu of no bond pending magistration.
