Mayor Salinas Hosts Flag Day Ceremony

City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas hosted a very patriotic Flag Day ceremony at the City Hall Flag Pole. Joined by the local assemblies of the Knights of Columbus, 1129 and 2565, as well as various local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including: City of Laredo Police Department; Texas Department of Public Safety; U.S. Border Patrol; U.S. Customs & Border Protection; Webb County Constable Rudy Rodriguez; and Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar, who had a very moving presentation of colors, as well as presence in the audience while saluting the flag. Also participating in the ceremony were City of Laredo Parks & Leisure Services Department Summer Camp Kids and St. Peter’s Memorial School Students led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance while Laredo Police Officer Argentina Rodriguez sang the National Anthem. After a few remarks, Mayor Salinas read the proclamation, provided by the Knights of Columbus (attached), joined by CBP Port Director Gene Garza, Sheriff Martin Cuellar, Assistant Police Chief Jesus Torres; Maria Gonzalez, representing Congressman Henry Cuellar; and Jaime Garcia, Faithful Navigator for the Knights of Columbus. The proclamation was presented to the students of St. Peter’s Memorial School. Thanks to a generous donation by Webb County Constable Rudy Rodriguez, also a Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus, everyone in attendance at the ceremony received an American flag.
