(June 10th), EDINBURG, TX – The Broncos (4-11), after losing the series in Amarillo three games to one looked to knock off the first place Edinburg Road Runners (12-3) in Edinburg. RHP Dimitri Camareno (0-2) squared off against Wardell Starling (3-0) of the Road Runnners at Edinburg Stadum. Camareno, making his fourth start of 2010 got into some trouble early. In the bottom of the first inning he allowed a two out walk followed by a two run homer by Ambioriz Cancepion that gave the Road Runners a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the second the Broncos got on the board. Nick Mahin walked and Dustin Spruill hit an RBI double to score Mahin from first and make the score 2-1 Road Runners.
In the bottom of the second the Road Runners would strike again. A leadoff single by Carlos Hereaud got things started. Robert Matlock then tripled to make the score 3-1 Road Runners.
In the top of the third the Broncos would tie the game. Jake Wells doubled, followed by and RBI single by Ryan Flynn, his eighth RBI of the season. Jason Diaz reached on an infield single and David Fowler bunted both runners over. With Kenny Gilbert at the plate, Starling’s pitch bounced away from Road Runner catcher Eddie Wilson. Flynn came home to score. Home plate umpire Vince Price originally called Flynn safe. After an argument from Starling he changed the call and ruled Flynn out on Batter interference. Diaz was sent back to second base and Gilbert would resume his at-bat. Gilbert hit a ground ball to the second base man Wilmer Pino. Pino airmailed his throw over the head of the Road Runner first baseman and Diaz came all the way around from second base to score the tying run; 3-3 heading to the bottom of the third.
The score would stay 3-3 until the bottom of the fourth when Vincent Blue doubled and with one out Robert Matlock hit an RBI ground out to give the Road Runners a 4-3 lead.
