Sheriff’s Deputies Seize Marijuana at an Approximate Street Value of $38,000

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at approximately 8 p.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 1994 Geo Metro near the airport at Loop 20. Upon further investigation, deputies noticed a couple of large bundles wrapped with black electrical tape in the back seat of the vehicle. Sheriff’s K-9 gave positive alert of narcotics to said bundles. A total of 75pounds of green leafy substance believed to be marijuana were seized. The marijuana had an approximately street value of $38,000. The driver who was identified as Alejandro Cavazos Lugo, 37, from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, Felony 2. Cavazos was transported to the Webb County Jail. Bond was set at $75,000.
