LISD to Honor Fallen War Heroes

The Laredo Independent School District will have a day of remembrance to honor all fallen war heroes, Prisoners of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA). LISD observes the event by hosting its annual ceremony on Tuesday, May 25, at 9:00 a.m. in the Memorial Middle School gymnasium.
Memorial Middle School students and the LISD combined Color Guard will participate in a Roll Call of all fallen American heroes, POW, and MIA, followed by the playing of Eternal Father. The Webb County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will conduct a 21 Gun Salute followed by the playing TAPS by the Memorial Middle School Band. LISD board members who are veterans and JROTC cadets place a Wreath in memory of the fallen soldiers.
The keynote speaker for this year’s ceremony will be, local Marine War Veteran, David Leyendecker. Several Gold Star Mothers will also be recognized during the Memorial Day Observance. A reception will follow the assembly.
