LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry this morning apprehended a Houston man arriving on a northbound bus that was wanted on an outstanding warrant for murder.  Shortly before 8 a.m. this morning, CBP officers at Lincoln-Juarez Bridge were conducting examinations of passengers aboard a commercial bus when they discovered passenger Brian Chidozie Ezike, 18, a U.S. citizen from Houston , was a possible match to an outstanding warrant. In secondary examination, CBP officers verified Ezike’s identity and confirmed he had an outstanding warrant for homicide from Harris County, Texas. The warrant is in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old Yates High School student last Saturday. CBP officers turned Ezike over to the custody of Webb County sheriff’s deputies.

“Our frontline officers remain vigilant at the port not only for narcotics, immigration and agriculture violations but also for fugitives that may have outstanding warrants. The interception of a man wanted on a homicide warrant exemplifies the dedication of our officers and CBP’s ongoing efforts to secure our borders,” said Gene Garza, CBP Port Director, Laredo .
