May 28th, LAREDO, TX – RHP Dimitri Camareno got the call from Manager Dan Firova to start game two of the 2010 season. Unfortunately for Camareno, Javis Diaz was, once again in the line-up for the White Wings. Diaz got things started off in the top of the first with a leadoff double and after an infield single by C Kevin Griffin; DH Salvador Paniagiua knocked him home for a 1-0 White Wings lead.
With two away RF Arlon Quiroz hit a hot shot double off the wall to plate Kevin Griffin and the White Wings led 2-0 after just the top of the first inning.
RHP Luis Montano made the start in game two for the White Wings. Jason Diaz started off the Broncos half of the inning much the same way he did last night. After the leadoff Diaz single, a throwing error on pitcher Luis Montano sent him to second where he promptly stole third base. LF Kenneth Gilbert lined an RBI single in right field to make the score 2-1 White Wings. In the second with two outs Javis Diaz hit a solo home run over the right field wall to push the White Wing Lead to 3-1.
In the top of the third inning the White Wing offense struck again, 2B Jeff Toth doubled and after a Joel Roa groundout RF Arlon Quiroz lined his second RBI single of the game into right field for a 4-1 White Wing lead.
Despite having runners on base in every single inning between the second and the fifth innings the Broncos were unable to plate any runs. In total they got their lead-off batter aboard in five of the nine innings.
With one out in the bottom of the sixth RF Doug Thennis walked. White Wings manager Eddie Dennis went to the bullpen here bringing in Freddy Ballestas. Ballestas allowed a single by CF Bradley Goldsmith, and another walk to SS Ryan Flynn to load the bases. 2B Jason Diaz struck out for the second out of the inning and 3B Ben Wolgamot, after falling behind 0-2 worked the count to 2-2 and then lined a two run single into left field to bring the Broncos to within one.
With two outs in the top of the eighth manager Dan Firova summoned his closer Jonathan Miller to the mound and Miller didn’t disappoint. Getting out of a two out two on jam to end the inning.
The Broncos, who struggled with their situational hitting in yesterdays ball game as well had runners on second and third with nobody out and were unable to get the tying run across the plate. C Luany Sanchez, who threw out four would be base stealers tonight, would strike out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
White Wings closer Michael Barbosa came into the game for the home half of the ninth and promptly shut the door on the Broncos; securing the 4-3 White Wing victory.
