Early Monday morning at approximately 12:00 a.m. a search warrant was executed at the Phoenix Amusement Center located on 4502 San Bernardo Ave. Two subjects, Guadalupe Rios and Luis Eduardo Magana were arrested for Gambling Promotion C/A Misdemeanors and were transported to Webb County Jail. A total of 137 eight-liner motherboards and approximately $17,900 in US currency was seized. The investigation continues and further arrests are pending. These arrests were the result of a multi-week investigation of the business by undercover officers from the LPD. The officers were paid out in cash which is against the law. The business did not even have any prizes (soap, detergent, toilet paper) on the premises which cannot exceed $5 in value.
Note: a customer had just won $3,900 when officers raided the place (daily raffle that occurs at midnight on Sundays). We learned that the cashier was about to pay the customer.
