LPD Narcotics Division Seize 200 lbs of Marijuana

  On April 22, 2010,  Laredo Police Narcotics/Vice Unit assisted by  Laredo Police Patrol Division, Border Patrol and ICE Agents, recovered  (3) bundles of Marijuana with a total weight of 202.6 pounds. 202 lbs of marijuana A multiday investigation led narcotics officers to a suspect vehicle scheduled to transport a load of narcotics.  Late in the afternoon the undercover officers spotted the vehicle driving in a south Laredo neighborhood.  The suspect vehicle noticed someone was following him; the officers were following him in an unmarked vehicle.  The suspect drove off and sped away.  The officers lost the vehicle for a brief moment as a result.  The car was then spotted near an abandoned empty lot without any occupants in it.  The vehicle had 3 large bundles inside of it equaling to 202 lbs of Marijuana worth an estimated $50,000.  An immediate search of the area was conducted and the suspect driving the vehicle was located walking along near Franzetta Street.  The suspect Esteban Guadalupe Ramos was arrested and charged for Possession of Marijuana F/2. Suspect was booked at the Laredo Police Department. The arrestee was later transported to the Webb County Jail in lieu of no bond. All evidence recovered at the scene was photographed and taken the Laredo Police property room.  No weapons were found.
