Chief Carlos Maldonado travels to Nation’s Capital to visit with Vice President Joe Biden

 Chief Carlos Maldonado is traveling to Washington D.C. to meet Vice President Joe Biden and other top law enforcement officials about Law Enforcement issues in our border community of Laredo, Texas.  The meeting will be held tomorrow at 4 p.m. eastern time.  The Chief was recently appointed as Border Issues Chair by the Texas Chiefs of Police Association. http://www.texaspolicechiefs.org/info_committee_chairs.asp  The Chief will be meeting along top ranking executive members of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).  It was at the IACP’s invitation that Chief Maldonado was asked to travel to Washington D.C. to cover law enforcement topics and issues affecting the border.  Chief Maldonado plans to put an emphasis on “investing in municipal police departments directly”.  “We’re the tip of the spear”, says Chief Maldonado, “Local municipalities and their Police Officers are first in line with regards to border violence issues”. 

 The IACP is sponsoring the Chief’s visit to meet the Vice President.  The Chief will return late Friday afternoon.
