Gabriel Holguin to Fight for the Texas Title

(Laredo, Tx) March 18 -Laredo Boxer Gabriel Holguin is set to return to the ring for an April 3rd match against Alphonso Lopez of Corpus Christi, Texas. Lopez is a top ranked boxer thats sports an 18-0 record 15 of those wins being KO’s. Holguin’s camp received word late in the day Wednesday that the fight will be for the Texas Title Belt. Holguin is 7-2 since his return to the ring after a one year lay-off . Holguin’s moste notable fights have been against Former IBF Middle Weight Champion Yori Boy Campas which Campas won on a split decision in Tucson, Arizona and a victory vs. Verdel Smith at the Laredo Entertainment Center in 2002. Verdel Smith had fought the likes of Hector Camacho Sr., Oscar De La Hoya, and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. before coming to Laredo. Holguin won the fight on a unimous decision. After this next fight Gabriel Holguin hopes to sign a contract to fight Hector Camacho Jr. or Marco Antonio Rubio. Holguin is currently training in Laredo, Tx at Los Dos Laredo’s Boxing Gym under another hometown boxing legend Felix “El Gato” Garcia.
