8 LINER RAID THREE ARREST MADE


1An investigation by both the Laredo Police Department’s Crimes Against Property Division and the Webb/Zapata County District Attorney’s Office resulted in the execution of a search warrant for an establishment found to be operating an illegal gambling place with the use of electronic video game machines commonly called Eight-Liners. 3 The investigation determined that this business was paying out cash prizes to patrons who won playing the eight-liner machines; a search warrant was obtained for the establishment on March 25, 2010.

 2On Thursday, March 25, 2010, at about 10:30pm Officers and Crimes Against Property Investigators from the Laredo Police Department executed the search warrant on the business, Atlantis Amusement Center, located at 6201 McPherson Rd.  A total of 150 Motherboards were seized from Eight-Liner Machines during the execution of the search warrant.    Evidence was also seized from this establishment included $11,453.00 in cash.

On Thursday, March 25, 2010 after the execution of the search warrant detectives discovered three the defendants named in the investigation were at the establishment performing their job.  Antonio Rodriguez-Mendoza 02-01-80Antonio Rodriguez-Mendoza, 30, Gambling Promotion C/A with a bond of $2,500.00, for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity F/3 with a bond of $10,000.00 set by Judge Joe Lopez.  Benito Aleman Zamora 01-12-81Benito Aleman-Zamora, 29, for Gambling Promotion C/A with a bond of $2,500.00, for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity Felony 3 with a bond of $10,000.00 set by Judge Joe Lopez.  Felipe De Jesus Hernandez,Felipe De Jesus Hernandez 07-11-91 18, Gambling Promotion C/A with a bond of $2,500.00, for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity F/3 with a bond of $10,000.00 set by Judge Joe Lopez.  The three men were arrested and transported to the Laredo Police Department were they were booked, processed, and then remanded to Webb County jail in lieu of listed Bond for each warrant.  This case remains an ongoing investigation and more charges may be pending.
