CONGRESSMAN CUELLAR AND USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT STATE DIRECTOR TO ANNOUNCE OVER $5.2 MILLION FOR NEW COUNTY JAIL

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) together with USDA Rural Development State Director Paco Valentin and Jim Hogg County Officials will announce Monday over $5.2 million in federal funding for the construction of a 48-bed detention center in Hebbronville, Texas. Jim Hogg County will receive $3,949,000 in federal grant funding and $1,317,000 in loan assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Assistance Funds Program.
Congressman Cuellar and USDA Rural Development State Director Paco Valentin will discuss how the federal funding will be used to construct the new Jim Hogg County jail. Following Hurricane Dolly in July 2008, the USDA provided disaster assistance to South Texas communities impacted by severe storm damage and local flooding. On Monday, Jim Hogg County will receive similar funds from the USDA to construct this new detention facility.
