Leyendecker Elementary to host Chess Tournament

Leyendecker Elementary School, in conjunction with the Laredo Chess Club, is hosting the first chess tournament of the year. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, January 23, at 12:30 p.m. at the Leyendecker Elementary School gymnasium located at 1311 Garden St.
The four round Swiss System tournament is open to all scholastic chess players K-12 grade. The contest will have a USCF rated and a non rated beginners division, each with primary, elementary, middle, and high school sections.
Check in and late registration is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The late registration fee is $8.
An awards ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Members of the Laredo Chess Club will direct the tournament.
