The Bucks enter tonight’s game with a chance to move even with Texas for third place in the Southern Conference with a win. Laredo is two points behind Texas with two games in hand.
The Bucks return home Friday night for the first time since January 16th. Laredo finished their three-game road trip with a 2-1 record last week beating the top two teams in the Northern Conference including Saturday’s 5-3 come-from-behind-win over then first-place Rapid City. The Bucks scored four unanswered goals in the third to stun the Rush.
Darryl Smith earned CHL Player of the Week honors for his performance during the road stretch. Smith had eight points (6-2=8) last week including three straight multi-goal games.
Starting this weekend the Bucks will play three games in three nights during each of the next six weekends. In all, from January 29th-March 6th the Bucks will play 19 games in 37 days (10 home, 9 away).
The Bucks and Brahmas have split the first two games of their season series thus far. Texas shutout Laredo 2-0 on November 21st while the Bucks picked up a 4-3 in on January 3rd. Both games were at the LEC.
Texas will play their second game of a three-game road trip Friday night. The Brahmas fell to Bossier-Shreveport 4-2 Tuesday night to put them 0-1-1 in their last two contests.
The Brahmas are at Rio Saturday night.
