On December 03, 2009 at approximately 10:30 pm an officer at the 8100 block of McPherson, who had stopped a vehicle for a traffic citation, was collided into by an intoxicated driver. Kimberly Yvette Martinez, 23, rear ended the officer who had his overhead lights on while he stopped a vehicle on a routine traffic violation. The officer was inside the patrol car when the collision happened. The extent of the crash was considered minor and could have been much worse. The officer was taken to Doctor’s Hospital emergency and was treated and released. Ms. Martinez did not receive any injuries and refused treatment and was arrested after it was determined that she had visible signs of intoxication at the time of the accident. She was taken to Webb County Jail and held under no bond until seen by magistrate.
