The Laredo Reads Committee hosted a Christmas Story Time, where local librarians and members of the Laredo Reads Committee read children’s Christmas books aloud, while petition signatures were gathered from children and families sitting in the audience, as well as the busy Christmas shoppers who were more than eager to demonstrate support for a bookstore to come to Laredo, after B. Dalton closes its doors for good on January 16. Traditional favorites were read, including “The Night Before Christmas” and “Frosty the Snowman,” but more contemporary, bilingual stories were a big hit, including “Charro Claus and the Tejas Kid” and “N is for Navidad” and the audience also really enjoyed the story of “Herschel and Hanukkah.”
