At about 4:04 am, an officer arrived by the Stripes located by 1701 Arkansas. While officer is exiting his patrol car he notices a white Ford pick-up truck leaving the parking lot. A man making deliveries to the store approaches the officer, and tells him that the driver of the white Ford pick-up truck had been following him. The Officer gets back into his unit and proceeds to attempt to stop the Ford Pick-up truck. The Pick-up truck refuses to stop, and a pursuit ensues. The Ford truck goes South on Arkansas, then East on Clark the truck then turns South on Aguila Azteca, which is behind Target. Officers continue following the white Ford pick-up truck which goes into a dead end. The suspect then makes a u-turn and begins driving North on Aguila Azteca. In the process the suspect hits a patrol car that was stationary on the side of the road, (no injuries and minor damage to patrol car). Then the suspect collided into a truck tractor which was also parked on the side of the road, (minor damage). Suspect then jumps out of the truck and begins running on foot into some brush attempting to evade the officers. The officers chased him down, and arrested the suspect, Martin Jose Lopez, 12-03-67. The suspect was combative with arresting officers even after officers took the suspect to the hospital for treatment for any injuries he may have sustained during the collisions. Suspect was treated and released from LMC. The suspect was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle and Evading Police using a Motor Vehicle. Two officers received minor injuries as a result stemming from physically struggling with the evading suspect.
