Sheriff’s Deputies Take 607 Pounds of Marijuana off the Highway

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Friday, October 30, 2009, at approximately 2 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Highway 83 South, half mile from Rio Bravo City. The Driver of the vehicle refused to stop and drove into the brush knocking down a fence line, in an attempt to escape. As soon as vehicle came to a stop, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded into the brush.
Sheriff’s Deputies discovered 12 bundles of marijuana inside the vehicle, a 2005 Yukon tan in color, totaling to 607 pounds with an approximate street value of $307,142. No arrest were made.
