Visiting judge Ron Carr of San Antonio presided over jury selection today in the criminal trial of Jesus Rangel (1/23/1982). Rangel is charged with a Class A Misdemeanor Assault after he allegedly struck a man in the face with a large drinking glass.
On October 31, 2008, the victim’s family was having a small party at their home located on the 600 block of East Travis, when the victim noticed that his wallet had gone missing from his car. The hosts of the party believed that the defendant had stolen the wallet after his having gone to the car to collect some beer. An argument ensued, which is when the defendant is charged with allegedly striking the victim on the face with the drinking glass, knocking him unconscious and cutting his upper lip.
Carlos Quesada will be representing the State. Silverio Martinez is representing the Defendant. Opening arguments are expected to begin early tomorrow.
