Pedestrians, runners, bikers and all others who frequent North Central Park during the day: use extreme caution today as heavy machinery and big equipment is at the park, digging holes and preparing the park for Saturday’s 100 acre woods tree planting project.
Be aware of surroundings and be prepared to have normal routes possibly interrupted by presence of equipment. Use best judgment and caution when venturing out to the park.
The equipment should be out at the park for the remainder of the day, until about 3:00 p.m.
City of Laredo Parks & Leisure Services Department staff and District VI Council Member Gene Belmares apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have the park free of machinery by this evening.
“This is just a small disruption for those who use the park regularly,” said Belmares. “This is just another step in only improving the park, and I think that after Saturday’s event, they will see what an impact these trees will make to the park,” he concluded.
