Laredo, Texas – On Friday November 6, 2009 at approximately 12:00 p.m., a Webb County Sheriff Deputy seized 295.2 pounds of marijuana at a business parking lot.
The Deputy became suspicious when he noticed that the 2003 Ford F 250 appeared to be a cloned vehicle for an oilfield company, he also noticed the registration sticker was placed upside down and the license plates on the vehicle were expired. Further inspection of the vehicle revealed the keys were left on the ignition inside the vehicle. While the Deputy was conducting a cursory inspection he was overwhelmed with the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle, The Deputy utilized his K-9 who alerted to the presence of narcotics. Deputies seized 17 bundles totaling 295.2 pounds of marijuana from the tool box of the vehicle, the marijuana had an estimated street value of $149,371. No arrests were made. The Narcotics Division of The Webb County Sheriff’s Office will continue the investigation.
“This seizure was the result of attention to detail on the deputy, our deputies continue to be diligent and dedicated in keeping drugs off the streets.” Sheriff Martin Cuellar stated.
