Webb County Awarded Veteran Rental Assistance Grant

Webb County Precinct 3 Commissioner Jerry Garza will be holding a special press conference Thursday, October 22 to announce details of a Veterans Rental Assistance Grant that was recently awarded to Webb County from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA).
The press conference will take place at 10 a.m. in front of the Webb County Courthouse located at 1000 Houston Street.
The $250,000 grant is designed to help area veterans in the community with rental assistance for up to 33 months and is designed to help a total of eleven veterans in Webb County.
The program was first launched in 2007 in the State as a pilot program and due the enormous response received, has continued to grow.
“We’re really excited about the grant that will help those veterans who have proudly served our country,” said Commissioner Garza. “This grant is just the first of additional aid to come to help our veterans.”
In order to be considered for the grant, veterans must be willing to participate in a self-sufficiency program, where short and long term goals will be set for the participant enrolled in the program.
