bucksLAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with the Laredo Entertainment Center, announced at a press conference Thursday that tailgating will be brought back and encouraged for the 2009-10 season. The announcement was made to the media and a large number of fans and sponsors at the LEC.

“One thing that our fans really wanted us to bring back was tailgating, and we heard them loud and clear,” said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. “We want the fans to be happy, and we want to encourage them to come out to the games early and tailgate.”

The Bucks also announced that single game tickets for the Home Opener on October 24th go on sale on Friday (September 25th) at 10am. Call 718-BUCK (2825).

The LEC will offer $1 draft beers during the tailgates, and fans are encouraged to bring their own food and BBQ sets. During each of the Bucks 10 Saturday home games the team will hold a cook-off contest, with all 10 contests having a different theme. Rudy’s BBQ will be on hand offering free samples. Santa Maria’s Car Wash will be offering special car wash offers exclusively to Bucks fans at each tailgate party!  Fans will be encouraged to set up an appointment to have their car detailed inside and out at the tailgate parties. There will also be lots of games for the kids, and a chance to get give away items.

The first official tailgating party will be before the Bucks Home Opener on Saturday October 24th, outside Gate D at the LEC. The party and cook-off contest will start at 4:00pm, with the game at 7:30pm. Judges will be on hand to declare a winner based off taste, tailgate atmosphere, and products used.  The tailgate cook-off contest for the Home Opener will be a Fajita contest. Tailgating will be shut down at 6:30pm, one hour before face-off.

The Bucks will hold a special kickoff party before the Home Opener, where the players will be greeted by fans on the red carpet outside the LEC at 5pm. All Bucks players and front office staff will be outfitted in tuxedos courtesy of International Tuxedo on W. Del Mar. Fans will have an opportunity to take pictures on the red carpet, as well as inside in front of the Bucks Official Media Banner. The first 1,000 fans to enter the LEC will receive a FREE Bucks “Believe In Blue” Picture Frame.

“It’s just like the red carpet at the Grammys or Emmys, it will be a great way to kick off the home season,” Ruskowski said.

The Bucks will open their eighth season in the Gateway City on October 24th at the LEC, and will host the 2010 CHL All-Star Game January 13th. For ticket information call 718-BUCK (2825).
