City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas received both his flu and pneumonia shot at the City of Laredo Health Department.  Salinas cited several reasons as to why he received the shot; first and foremost, he wants to be an example to the citizens of Laredo, stressing the importance of protecting oneself with these shots.  “Getting the shots here at the City of Laredo Health Department is so easy, convenient and inexpensive. I encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated to come take advantage of the facility, expertise and low-cost shot offered here and get vaccinated.”  Blanca Gonzalez, the nurse who gave Salinas both his shots agreed, stating that the minimal cost was worth the cost of safeguarding one’s health, and possibly, life.  “More people were hospitalized and more peolple died, from regular seasonal flu than from the H1N1 virus last year. Get the flu shot.  It’s that easy to protect yourself.”
