Jury Selection Begins in Murder of Jose Alberto Melecio

Assistant District Attorney Sergio Lozano and Defense Attorney Oscar Pena, Sr. began jury selection in the 49th District Court on Monday, September 11, 2009. On trial is Luis Martin Gonzalez (5/7/1986). Gonzalez is charged with the September 7, 2008 Murder of Jose Albert Melecio.
Laredo Police responded to an emergency call at approximately 10:00 a.m. that September morning. When they arrived at the defendant’s grandparents home located at 2902 Monterrey Street, they found the victim dead at the scene. Blunt force trauma to the head was later ruled as the cause of death.
