Bomb Threat Incident Downtown

On Monday Sept. 21, 2009 at approximately 9:18am Laredo Police dispatch received a Bomb Threat call from a male subject advising the there was a bomb at the Webb County Justice Center.
Patrol Officers responded and cornered off the area and requested the assistance of The Laredo Police Department Bomb Squad Unit. Bomb Squad Technicians utilized their equipment and training in conducting a search/sweep of the entire building in a cooperative effort with Webb County Sheriff’s Department.
A suspicious explosive device was found on the second floor of the parking lot area. The device was extracted and safely removed from the area. After further inspection of the device by the Bomb Squad it was determined that the explosive device was a Training Grenade Haul (hoax grenade).
The investigation will continue and will be handled by the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Agency.
