AUSTIN-South Texas citizens will have an opportunity to talk transportation at a town hall meeting scheduled next week in Kingsville.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is partnering with Representative Tara Rios Ybarra to host the town hall meetings (http://www.txdot.gov/public_involvement/hearings_meetings/thm_king.htm) at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 1 on the Texas A&M University Kingsville campus, 920 University Blvd., Biology Earth Science Building, Room 100 (J. Talmer Peacock Auditorium).

Texas Transportation Commissioner Fred Underwood of Lubbock, TxDOT Executive Director Amadeo Saenz, the Representative and other local transportation partners will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on projects and funding, including a brief perspective on regional infrastructure requirements for the future.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in an open dialogue with the agency and local and regional transportation planners. A webcast (http://www.txdot.gov/public_involvement/hearings_meetings/thm_king.htm) link will be available on the TxDOT website. Viewers will be able to participate in the town hall via the Internet and have an opportunity to submit questions during the meeting.

TxDOT held three town hall meetings last year in Abilene, Midland/Odessa and McAllen. A Nacogdoches town hall meeting in July drew about 75 participants.
