On Friday August 21, 2009 a routine traffic stop rendered more than just a traffic citation. While working routine traffic enforcement beat on a busy street an officer pulled over a tractor trailer rig with Mexican plates for a routine traffic violation. The officer noticed that the driver was acting suspiciously and was nervous. The officer asked the driver for consent to search the truck and the driver consented. The officer, along with other officers searched the truck and discovered a tool box with 7 wrapped bundles of currency. The currency added up to $598,485. The driver denied knowing the money was located in the truck. No arrests were made at this point in the investigation. The driver was identified and released.
