Another group of outstanding Laredo youth were recognized by Mayor Raul G. Salinas and the Laredo City Council for their accomplishments this year. First up, were the top three 8th Graders of the Year, selected by the Laredo Police Department Community Relations Division and KGNS’ Friends of the Family. The students were chosen for their academics, their extra-curricular activities, and most importantly, their involvement in the community. First place winner Clarissa Carrillo of Clark Middle School; second place winner Chamonix Mejia of Trautman Middle School; and third place winner Caroline Notzon of United Day School were on hand to receive their certificates of accomplishments.
