LISD class of 2009 summer graduates

The LISD summer class of 2009 received their high school diplomas Thursday, August 20, during ceremonies held at the Colonel Flores Gymnasium at Martin High School.
Students from Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High School who completed their requirements over the summer crossed the stage in their caps and gowns. LISD Board President Jose Valdez and Superintendent Nelson addressed the students on the accomplishments of completing their high school requirements and the importance of pursuing their dreams in order to become productive members of our communities. Following the address, principals from each high school announced the graduates as they received their diploma from Dr. Nelson.
The ceremony began with the processional of students from all three high schools followed by the Presentation of Colors by the LISD All-Star Color Guard under the direction of Lt Col. Joseph A. Pelto. Throughout the ceremony the audience was entertained by the Martin High School Band under the direction of Rudy Montalvo.
