Broncos’ starter Aaron Jenkins left the game after seven strong innings of work.  He gave up two runs, on three hits; he walked five, and struck out three.  Fernando Rijo came in to pitch the eighth.

The Thunder threatened against Rijo in that eighth inning.  With one out Amadeo Zazueta and Leivi Ventura hit back to back singles.  A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third, and then Manny Mejia hit a two run single.  Then with two outs Carlos Rodriguez hit an rbi double that scored Mejia.  That gave Coastal Bend a 5-2 lead.

Benny Cepeda came into the game for the Thunder looking to finish the game.  The Broncos scored a run when Jaime Morales reached on a fielder’s choice, and Derek Beckman scored from third.  But it wasn’t enough, as Laredo lost by a score of 5-3.
