BRONCOS STILL WINLESS IN EDINBURG

 August 20, 2009-Edinburg, TX-The Laredo Broncos are now 0-9 in Edinburg, as they lost to the Roadrunners by a score of 5-3 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium, on Thursday.

The Roadrunners grabbed the early lead in the first.  Carlos Hereaud hit an rbi single that scored Wilmer Pino.  Hereaud then scored when Bryon Smith reached on a throwing error by Jaime Morales.  Later in the inning, Vincent Blue knocked in another run with a single.  That gave Edinburg the 3-0 lead.

The Roadrunners added on to their lead in the second.  Hunter Owen drew a bases loaded walk, that made the score 4-0.

The Broncos got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning.  They had the bases loaded with one, after walks to Robert Moron, Jaime Morales, and Ryan Flynn.  Luis Ugueto then hit a two run double, that score both Moron and Morales.  The score was now 4-2.

The Roadrunners extended their lead in the sixth.  Hector Garanzuay hit into a double play that scored Wilmer Pino.  The score was now 5-2.

Broncos’ starter Will Palmer left the game after six innings of work.  He gave up five runs, two of which were earned, on 11 hits.  He walked four batters and struck out one.  Julio Pinto came in to pitch in the seventh.

The Broncos inched closer in the eighth.  Alejandro Martinez reached second on an error by the left fielder Robert Matlock.  Derek Beckman came in to pinch run, and scored on a Jaime Morales single.  That made the score 5-3.

Fernando Rijo pitched a scoreless eighth for the Broncos, as they headed to the ninth down by two.

Kelly Casares came into the game for the Roadrunners, looking to close it out.  He shut down the Broncos, as Laredo lost their 15th consecutive game by a score of 5-3.

The Broncos scored 3 runs on 6 hits and had 2 errors while the Roadrunners scored 5 runs on 12 hits and had 2 errors.

The Broncos are now 21-48 on the season while the Roadrunners are 39-30.  The Broncos will next be in action Friday August 21st, as they play game two of a four game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners in Edinburg at 7:05.  You can listen to that game and all 80 Broncos games this year on our website www.laredobroncos.com through our partners at www.sportsujuice.com.
