BRONCOS PICK UP VICTORY OVER COLTS

August 4, 2009-San Angelo, TX-The Laredo Broncos started their 12 game road trip with a victory, as they beat the San Angelo Colts by a score of 4-2 at Foster Field, on Tuesday.

The Broncos struck first in the second inning.  With two outs Andres “El Monkey” Santos smacked a solo home run, his sixth of the season.  Robert Moron followed with a double and then scored on a double by OJ Garza.  That gave Laredo a 2-0 lead.

The Colts got on the scoreboard in the fourth.  Jason Landreth led off with a solo home run, his 14th of the season.  That cut the lead in half to 2-1..

The Broncos added on to their lead in fifth.  Jaime Morales singled with one out, and then stole second baseLuis Ugueto then singled to move Morales to third base.  Ugueto didn’t stay at first long as on the first pitch he stole second base.  David Cardona then hit a two run single, which scored both Morales and Ugueto.  That made the score 4-1.

The Colts scored again in their half of the fifth.  With one out Travis Calloway hit a solo home run, his first of the season.  That now made the score 4-2.

The Broncos threatened to extend their lead in the sixth.  Argelis Nunez doubled to start the inning and then went to third on a single by Luany Sanchez.  Andres Santos then drew a walk to load the bases, and chase starter Chandler Barnard.  Jacob Ramos came in the game for the Colts and got out of the jam giving up no runs.  The Broncos remained in the lead by two runs.

Luis Arroyo started the game for the Broncos and pitched seven solid innings.  He gave up two runs, on six hits, walked four, and struck out six.  Julio Pinto came out to start the eighth inning.

Julio Pinto pitched a scoreless eighth and the Broncos added on no extra runs.  Franklyn Gracesqui came in to close out the ballgame.

Gracesqui pitched a 1-2-3 inning, as the Broncos picked up the victory by a score of 4-2.

The Broncos scored 4 runs on 11 hits and had 0 errors while the Colts scored 2 runs on 7 hits and had 0 errors.

The Broncos are now 20-33 on the season while the Colts are 36-17.  The Broncos will next be in action Wednesday August 5th, as they play game two of a four game series against the San Angelo Colts 7:05 in San Angelo.  You can listen to that game and all 80 Broncos games this year on our website www..laredobroncos.com through our partners at www.sportsujuice.com.
