August 9, 2009-Edinburg, TX-The Laredo Broncos offense struggled for the second straight night, as they lost to the Edinburg Roadrunners by a score of 4-2 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium, on Sunday.

The Broncos started the scoring in the third inning.  Andres Santos walked to start the inning and then with one out went to second on a single by Ryan Flynn.  With two outs, Luis Ugueto hit a double that scored Santos, and gave Laredo the 1-0 lead.

The Roadrunners struck back in the bottom half of the third.  Cameron McGuire hit a three run home run, his fifth of the season.  The score was now 3-1 in favor of Edinburg.

The Roadrunners added on to their lead in the fifth.  With Carlos Hereaud on second, Hunter Owen knocked him in with a single.  That made the score 4-1.

The Broncos got closers in the eighth.  Ryan Flynn singled and then went to second on a wild pitch.  Luis Ugueto knocked him in with a single.  The score was now 4-2.

Broncos’ starter Luis Arroyo was done after seven solid innings of work.  He gave up four runs, on seven hits, walked four and struck out five.  Franklyn Gracesqui came in to pitch the eighth and pitched a scoreless inning, as the Broncos trailed by two heading to the ninth.

Kelly Casares came into the ballgame for the Roadrunners looking to close it out.  He pitched a scoreless ninth, as the Broncos lost by a score of 4-2.

The Broncos scored 2 runs on 6 hits and had 0 errors while the Roadrunners scored 4 runs on 8 hits and had 0 errors.

The Broncos are now 21-37 on the season while the Roadrunners are 31-27.  The Broncos will next be in action Monday August 10th, as they play game three of a four game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners at 7:05 in Edinburg.  You can listen to that game and all 80 Broncos games this year on our website www.laredobroncos.com through our partners at www.sportsujuice.com.
