BRONCOS CLOBBERED BY THUNDER

August 30, 2009-Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos lost thier ninth consecutive game, as they lost to the Coastal Bend Thunder by a score of 10-0 at Veterans Field, on Sunday.
The Thunder started the scoring in the second inning. Dustin Smith knocked in a run with an rbi single, and then another run scored when the throw by rightfielder Tano Tijerina got by Luany Sanchez. Later in the inning with two runners on, Leivi Ventura hit a three run home run, his 10th of the season. Manny Mejia then reached on a two base error by Derek Beckman. He later scored on an rbi single by Carlos Rodriguez. That gave Coastal Bend the early 6-0 lead.
The Thunder added on to their lead in the fourth. They loaded the bases with no one out, when Carlos Rodriguez hit a two run double. That was it for Broncos’ starter Will Palmer as he was taken out of the game. Juan Senreiso came in for Laredo and gave up an rbi groundout to Bryan Vickers. Later in the inning Michael Lewis hit an rbi groundout, to make the score 10-0.
Will Palmer lasted three plus innings for the Broncos. He gave up 10 runs, nine of which were earned, on 10 hits. He walked three batters and struck out none.
Senreiso pitched four scoreless innings for the Broncos as he was replaced in the eighth by Andres “El Monkey” Santos. He pitched two scoreless innings, as the Broncos trailed by 10 heading to the bottom half of the ninth.
Ricardo Morales came out looking for the Thunder’s third straight complete game. Laredo was not able to put together a rally, as they lost by a score of 10-0.
The Broncos scored 0 runs on 5 hits and had 2 errors while the Thunder scored 10 runs on 14 hits and had 0 errors.
The Broncos are now 22-57 on the season while the Thunder are 39-39. The Broncos will next be in action Monday August 31st, as they play the final game of the 2009 season against the Coastal Bend Thunder at Veterans Field.
