BRONCOS’ ROAD WOES CONTINUE IN EDINBURG

August 11, 2009-Edinburg, TX-The Laredo Broncos once again lost an early, as they lost to the Edinburg Roadrunners by a score of 6-3 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium, on Tuesday.

The Broncos started the scoring in the first.  Luis Ugueto, Derek Beckman, and Mario Mendez all singled to load the bases.  Argelis Nunez then hit into a 6-4-3 double play, but Ugueto scored on the play.  That made the score 1-0.

The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard in the third.  With runners on second and third, Robert Matlock hit a two run single.  That scored Osiel Flores and Nick Aranada, to make the score 2-1.

Argelis Nunez tied the game up in the top of the fourth inning.  He hit a solo home run, his 12th of the season.  The game was now tied at two.

Edinburg grabbed the lead right back in bottom of the fourth.  Osiel Flores hit a rbi double that scored Vincent Blue.  The Roadrunners now led 3-2.

Broncos’ starter Gustavo Vasquez was taken out after six and a third innings of work.  Edgar Soto came in with a runner on first and one out, and walked Robert Matlock.  Wilmer Pino then stole third with Matlock stealing second.  Carlos Hereaud then knocked them both in with a single.  Julio Pinto then came in and gave up a rbi single to Vincent Blue.  That made the score 6-2 in favor of Edinburg.

Vasquez gave up 4 runs, on seven hits, walked four and struck out none.  He was in line for the loss.

Laredo got closer in the top of the eighth off a reliever Adrian Garza.  Jaime Morales and pinch hitter Robert Moron started off the inning with back to back singles.  Then with one out, pinch hitter Alejandro Martinez hit a rbi single scoring Morales.  That made the score 6-3.

Julio Pinto pitched a scoreless eighth as the Broncos headed to the ninth down by three runs.  Kelly Casares came in looking to close out the ballgame.

Casares shut down the Broncos in the ninth, as Laredo lost their sixth straight game by a score of 6-3.

The Broncos scored 3 runs on 9 hits and had 0 errors while the Roadrunners scored 6 runs on 10 hits and had 2 errors.

The Broncos are now 21-39 on the season while the Roadrunners are 33-27.  The Broncos will next be in action Wednesday August 12th, as they open up a four game series against the Amarillo Dillas at 7:05 in Amarillo.  You can listen to that game and all 80 Broncos games this year on our website www.laredobroncos.com through our partners at www.sportsujuice.com.
