Texas A&M International University and Laredo Community College’s Title V Cooperative Grant Hispanic Student Success Initiative is hosting a Teacher Mentoring Working Series: Preparing Pre-service Teachers for Effective Instructional Practices today through July 8 and July 13-15. The interactive seminar sessions have been designed to provide a foundational framework of experiences for pre-service teachers. The goal is to offer future teachers a demonstration of best teaching practices and effective classroom instruction. The Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to meet in TAMIU Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade. Give your child the opportunity to improve her basketball skills this summer at Texas A&M International University Girl’s Basketball Camp. TAMIU Girl’s Basketball Camp is designed to develop and enhance the fundamental skills of each participating camper. Campers ages 6 – 13 will meet from today through July 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. Camp fee is $100 for each session. The South Texas Writing Project’s summer camps start meeting today. “Exploring the Universe Through Writing,” will meet today, July 6 – Thursday, July 10, from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. It is open to students in third – fifth grade. Cost is $150. “Reading and Writing in the Digital Age” for students in fifth – eighth grade, will meet July 6 – 17, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost is $200.
