Civic Center Pool Vandals Arrested

On Wednesday July 22, 2009 a report was filed at the Civic Center Pool in which unknown subjects had broken into the pool premises. The suspects then broke into a storage shed on site and removed paint cans and spilled the paints into the pool’s water and around the pool’s property. Apparently a lead developed when city employees told detectives from the crimes against property division that they had kicked out a group of teens the afternoon before for flagrant “lude” behavior when they bothered a group of girls at the pool. The detectives followed up the case and that led to one of the boys admitting and implicating three others. The teens were all male juveniles; one 14, one 16 and two 15 year olds.
On July 23, 2009 investigators made it to the suspects’ homes and were successful in detaining all four juveniles that were involved. The teens were charged with Burglary of Building SJF, Criminal Mischief SJF and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity F/3. Evidence implicating the suspects was also found and seized from two of the defendant’s homes. Paint covered clothes matching them to the crime was logged into evidence. The four teens were detained at Webb County Juvenile Detention Center.
