broncos

For the second straight night, the Dillas started the scoring in the first inning.  Carlos Figueroa knocked in Keanon Simon with a rbi double.  Then with two outs and the bases loaded, Broncos’ starter Gregorio Martinez walked Eric Brown to score Terrance McClain.  That gave Amarillo a 2-0 lead.

The Dillas added on to their lead in the second.  Willie James was on third base, when Keanon Simon stole second base.  The throw by catcher Luany Sanchez was high and ended up in centerfield, which allowed James to score.  That made the score 3-0.

The Broncos jumped on the scoreboard in the third.  Jaime Morales walked to start off the inning and then went to second on a single by Ryan Flynn.  After a groundout moved the runners to second and third, OJ Garza grounded out as well scoring Morales.  Mario Mendez followed with a rbi single scoring Flynn.  The score was now 3-2 in favor of Amarillo.

Laredo took their first lead of the game in the fifth. With one out, OJ Garza and Mario Mendez hit back to back singles.  Then with two outs, Luany Sanchez scored both runners on a double.  That gave the Broncos a 4-3 lead.

The Broncos extended their lead in the seventh.  Mario Mendez led off with a double, and then scored on a single by Argelis Nunez.  After a double play, Andres “El Monkey” Santos hit a solo home run, his third of the season.  That made the score 6-3.

Broncos’ starter Gregorio Martinez was done after six innings.  He gave up three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits.  He walked four batters and struck out three.  Julio Pinto came into the game in relief.

Pinto pitched a scoreless seventh inning and Fernando Rijo a scoreless eighth as the Broncos still lead 6-3 heading to the bottom of the ninth.  Franklyn Gracesqui came out for the ninth, looking for the save.

Gracesqui ran into trouble in the ninth as the Dillas brought the tying run to the plate.  Keanon Simon delivered a single scoring Justin Wenger.  That was followed by another rbi single by Andrew Wong.  The Dillas then put on a double steal successfully moving Simon to third and Wong to second.  The Broncos then intentionally walked Carlos Figueroa to load the bases.  Terrance McClain then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Simon to tie the game at 6.
