The Roadrunners struck first in the first inning. Robert Matlock led off with a single. Then with one out, Vincent Blue drew a walk. Bryon Smith followed with a rbi double scoring Matlock and moving Blue to third. Carlos Hereaud then hit a rbi groundout, scoring Blue and advancing Smith to third base. Smith then scored on a single by Osiel Flores, as that made the score 3-0 in favor of Edinburg.
The Roadrunners’ starting pitcher Tim Haines had a perfect game going after three innings of work. However, that ended when David Cardona led off the fourth with a double. Laredo still did no damage as the game remained 3-0.
Edinburg had a chance to blow the game wide open in the top of the seventh. They loaded the bases with no out, when the Broncos took out starter Luis Arroyo. Jason Herman came into the game and got Eric Gonzalez to hit into a 3-2-4 double play. After a walk reloaded the bases, Herman struck out Bryon Smith to end the threat and keep the score 3-0.
Luis Arroyo pitched six innings in his outing. He gave up all three runs on 7 hits. He walked and struck out three batters.
