BRONCOS BATS GO COLD IN LOSS TO DILLAS

Amarillo, TX-the Laredo Broncos could only muster 6 hits in the ballgame, as they lost to the Amarillo Dillas by a score of 12-3 at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa, on Saturday.
For the 2nd straight night, the Dillas scored in the first inning. With 2 outs and runners on the corners, Trent Lockwood singled into left field. Scoring on the play was Andrew Wong, and the runner on 1st Terrance McClain also scored when the ball got by left fielder David Cardona. That made the score 2-0.
The Dillas added to their lead in the 2nd. With runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out, Willie James laid down a bunt. Broncos starting pitcher Nathan Crawford bobbled the ball and then threw wide of 1st base for an error. Stantrel Smith who was on 2nd would score on the play and Justin Wenger who was on 1st went to 3rd. Keanon Simon then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Wenger and extending the lead to 4-0.
Amarillo opened up the game more in the 4th inning. Keanon Simon led off with a triple and scored on a wild pitch by Nathan Crawford. With 1 out Carlos Figueroa singled and scored on a triple by Terrance McClain. That would be all for Crawford as Travis Parker came into the game. Trent Lockwood greeted Parker with a rbi double scoring McClain. After a singled moved Lockwood to 3rd, Justin Wenger singled him in. That made the score 8-0.
Nathan Crawford lasted 3 1/3 innings. He gave up 7 runs, 5 of which were earned on 7 hits. He walked 3 batters and struck out 1.
The Dillas added on another run in the 5th. Andrew Wong tripled with 1 out, and then scored a sacrifice fly by Carlos Figueroa. That made the score 9-0.
The Broncos finally got on the scoreboard in the 6th inning. Anthony Bennett led off with a single and then went to 3rd on a single by Ryan Flynn. With one out, Jaime Morales singled in Bennett. That mad the score 9-1 in favor of Amarillo.
The Dillas would tack on a few more runs in the 8th. Stantrel Smith had a rbi single. That was followed by a 2 run double by Justin Wenger. Keanon Simon also delivered a rbi double. Then Carlos Figueroa doubled in another run. That made the score 14-1 in favor of the Dillas.
Ralph Roberts came out for the 9th looking for the complete game. The Broncos got 2 runs, on the 2 run home run by Argelis Nunez. That was his 3rd home run of the year. However it wasn’t enough as Roberts pitched the full 9 innings, as the Dillas won by a score of 14-3.
The Broncos scored 3 runs on 6 hits and had 2 errors while the Dillas scored 14 runs on 20 hits and had 1 error.
The Broncos are now 9-21 on the season while the Dillas are 16-14. The Broncos will next be in action Sunday July 12th, as they play game 3 of a 4 game series against the Amarillo Dillas in Amarillo at 6:05.
