June 2, 2009-Laredo, TX- The Laredo Broncos of the United League announce that they have signed SP Ryan Harris to a 2009 contract.
Harris comes to the Broncos after playing last year with the Alexandria Aces. He only made 3 starts in the 2008 season as he was injured during a game which knocked him out of action. He has a career record of 67-48 with a 4.35 ERA. His best seasons came when he played with Edinburg. He played with Edinburg from 2001-2004 and 2006. In those 5 seasons he had an outstanding 48-21 record. His best season of the 5 was in 2006 when he was named the ULB pitcher of the year. He went 11-2 that season with a 4.13 ERA.
Harris is another great veteran for the Broncos to add to this year squad. Broncos field Manager Ricardo Cuevas is glad to have Harris on board. “Ryan Harris is not just one of the best pitchers in the United League, but in all of independent ball. He is a huge addition to the Broncos starting staff not only because of his baseball skill, but also as a leader.”
This will not be the 1st time the Laredo has seen Harris pitch. Harris pitched 4 scoreless innings for the Broncos when they beat the Tecos earlier this year. The Broncos now have 4 proven starters on their staff and look to have one of if not the best rotations in the league.
The Laredo Broncos begin their 4th season in 2009. The Broncos will play an 80 game season from June to September with 36 home games at Veterans Field. Season tickets and Sponsorship Packages are on sale in the Laredo Broncos office located at 2200 Santa Maria or can be contacted at 723-BASE (2273) or on the web at www.laredobroncos.com.
