Wednesday, May 6, 2009 ( Laredo , TX):

After having to wait a few more days to get the 2009 Premier Development League (PDL) Regular Season underway, the Laredo Heat Soccer Club will open up at home this Thursday, May 7, 2009 versus the defending 2008 Mid-South Division Champion Austin Aztex at the TAMIU Soccer Complex. Kick-off is set for 8:00 PM.

The Laredo Heat would have had one PDL game under their belt; however, their match versus the expansion Rio Grande Valley Bravos scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd was postponed due to H1N1 virus safety precautions implemented by the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The Heat and the Bravos will play the postponed game on Monday, May 25th in Hidalgo , TX.

For this upcoming season, the Austin Aztex organization has two teams participating in the USL soccer pyramid. Along with their PDL club, Aztex President and Owner Phil Rawlins also has a team playing in the top division of the United Soccer Leagues, USL 1. The USL 1 side has already started their season and so far has fared well versus other established teams in the league and just this past weekend, the team won their first game in franchise history. This coming Friday night, the USL 1 Aztex will also make their 2009 debut on the Fox Soccer Channel when they host the Puerto Rico Islanders. The Islanders also have a short but rich history by competing in the CONCACAF Champions League this past season and falling to Mexican power-house Cruz Azul in Mexico City in penalty kicks.

The Laredo Heat would like to remind fans of their partnership with Chick-Fil-A, Mall del Norte location. If the Heat scores three or more goals at any home game this season, every fan with a paid admission ticket will be eligible for a free original chicken sandwich courtesy of Chick-Fil-A Mall del Norte.

Heat Notes:

The Laredo Heat Soccer Club starts their quest for a fourth consecutive trip to the USL PDL Championship Game and the organization reminds fans that ticket pricing is set in order to provide economical pricing and fun family entertainment for everyone.
