BRONCOS BOLSTER BULLPEN WITH SIGNING OF PITCHER TRISTAN CRAWFORD

May 8, 2009-Laredo, TX- The Laredo Broncos of the United League announce that they have signed RP Tristan Crawford to a 2009 contract.
Crawford who is a native of Australia, was signed as a non drafted free agent by the Minnesota Twins in May of 2000. He would go on to play 8 years in the Twins organization from 00-07 and then played in the Washington Nationals organization in 08. He has played from rookie ball all the way to Triple A during his time in the minors. He has a career 33-26 record with a 4.34 ERA. His best season came in 2004 with Quad City of the single A Midwest League, where he went 3-3 with a 2.76 ERA. Broncos Field Manager Ricardo Cuevas likes the arm of Crawford. “Tristan Crawford is one of the best relievers you are going to see in Laredo. He has great control and a good fastball that has led him to strike out many batters. He is the real deal.”
Crawford has come close to making into Major League Baseball as he has been on the Minnesota Twins 40 man roster. Also Crawford has pitched for Australia in the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classic. Tristan is also the brother of Broncos reliever Nathan Crawford. He is also only 26 so there is still plenty of juice left in his arm. Broncos General Manager Jose Melendez sees Tristan Crawford as a closer for this Broncos team. “Tristan Crawford is going to strive as the Broncos closer this year. For the first time I can honestly say we have a shut down guy that can protect leads late in the game. I look forward to watching him save many of our victories this season.
The Laredo Broncos begin their 4th season in 2009. The Broncos will play a 80 game season from June to September with 36 home games at Veterans Field.
