Salinas Elementary Receives Grant for New Instruments

(Laredo, Texas)-Roberta Rios Caballero, a music teacher at Salinas Elementary school, received a grant in the amount of $800.00 from the Texas Music Educators Association. The funds were used to purchase 18 ukuleles for fifth grade students who began taking ukulele classes last month. The Salinas Eagles elementary choir is also using the instruments to accompany their singing. “The ukuleles help our students further develop their musical abilities. In addition to expanding their musical skills many of our students have said that they feel soothed and relaxed when playing the instrument”, said Caballero.
