CBP Officers Seize More Than $300K in Meth at the Laredo Port of Entry

Crystal Meth Seizure LJB 61817LAREDO, TEXAS –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of alleged crystal methamphetamine carrying an estimated street value of more than $300,000 in one enforcement action.

“This is truly an example of our CBP officers hard work, experience and dedication to the CBP mission,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “I congratulate our officers for this interception and for the great job they do each day in keeping narcotics from entering our community.”

The seizure occurred on Sunday, June 18 at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD for a secondary examination. A physical inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 30 packages allegedly containing 16 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $328,044.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicle. The cases was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
