United South Legend Comes Home to Encourage Students

(Laredo, Tx)-What a treat it was for students at United South High School when UISD League of Legends luminary A.J. Mayers (inducted in 2014) returned to his alma mater to give a series of lectures about his life in the entertainment industry and his most recent novel entitled Black Sheep’s Meadow.
Mayers graduated from United South in 2005 and attended the University of Texas in Austin,Texas where he pursued his childhood dream of succeeding in the world of media and entertainment.
Mayers has worked for the CW, MTV, and is currently employed by Paramount Pictures as a markeing executive. To date, Mayers has worked on over 50 major films that include The Wolf of Wall Street, Transformers and Mission Impossible. Prior to his recent novel, A.J. published a sci-fi trilogy book series.
“ I am delighted that I was able to share my academic and professional experiences with the students at United South. My message is that anyone can succeed, provided they are willing to study, put in some long hours, and make sacrifices along the way”, said Mayers.
